Public Engagement Details Now Available

What We Heard report cover

Between February and March 2026, more than 2,000 residents, workers, students, and travelers across the region contributed to the engagement process of the safety plan update through a public safety perception survey that received 1,073 completed responses, direct conversations at more than 30 community events, and an analysis of candid public discussion from regional online forums.

What we heard was consistent and clear: speeding, distracted driving, and gaps in pedestrian infrastructure are felt across every corner of the region, and residents broadly understand that road design itself shapes whether streets are safe or dangerous.

The final plan will establish a shared regional framework for reducing serious crashes and fatalities, with specific actions, lead responsibilities, and a timeline for implementation. Sign up below to receive updates as the plan moves toward adoption.

The full engagement record is now available for review organized across three documents:

As for the plan itself, a full draft has completed internal review and is currently out for review with the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) and regional planning partners. Following that review, the plan will be revised and finalized before being presented to the TAC in June for a recommendation of approval, with action by the Policy Board anticipated in July. Thank you to everyone who took part in shaping the update to the regional safety plan.
